The Edge of the
Forest breaks its rule of not rounding up its own authors this month. There's a good reason for this one-time folly,
however, and that's because two of April's trends just can't be ignored. What are these trends? Blog discussions
and Poetry.
First the blog discussions:
Looking for a pick me up? Author Robin Brande tells you to treat yourself right
and then tell her how you spoiled yourself on Fridays. A gentle reminder and a lot of fun.
On Sundays, don't miss 7-Imp's 7-Kicks at Seven Impossible Things Before Breakfast.
Short for Seven Impossible Kick-Ass Things That Happened to You Last Week, this weekly
thread will have you finding the good in the lousiest of weeks.
Into books? Then join Robin Brande again, but this time on Tuesdays, to share
your latest reads.
Looking for in-depth discussion of one book? Then join in Michele's monthly book club
at Scholar's Blog Spoiler Zone. This month A Hat Full of Sky is on the menu.
Next month? Lady Friday.
If you're looking for great discussion of YA fiction and teen issues, then you can't go wrong
with Readergirlz' MySpace group. A great mix of writers, YA fans, and teens
April is Poetry Month and bloggers are doing it proud:
Elaine Magliaro, Blue Rose Girls and Wild Rose Reader, has been posting an original
poem a day. They're really great, so check 'em out at Wild Rose Reader.
Gregory K. has also been posting a poem a day over at GottaBook. Greg
has a great sense of humor and his poems are perfect readaloud choices for
kids ages five and up.
Kelly Fineman has been reviewing many a poetry book this April in honor
of National Poetry Month. Read her reviews to find the good, the awesome,
and the new.
Poetry Month is a great time to call attention to Sylvia Vardell's blog, Poetry for Children.
Don't miss it if you're a fan of children's poetry.
