Have you ever wondered what pirates and elves like to
read? Well, now you'll know! A musical comedy called
Yo Ho Ho! A Pirate's Christmas was populated with
eager readers of all ages. Many cast members carried
books along with their scripts (and snacks) to and
from rehearsals. Take a peek into their backpacks and
messenger bags:
Casey (22) is blazing through the Blue is for
Nightmares series by Laurie Faria Stolarz. She is
currently on the fourth book, Red is for Remembrance.
Kennedy (13) enjoyed I'd Tell You I'd Love You But
Then I'd Have to Kill You by Ally Carter very much,
and just finished reading the follow-up, Cross My
Heart and Hope to Spy. Is Kennedy herself a spy? She
can't tell me or else...well, you know.
Grace (13) is reading Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch
Albom. She was inspired to read the book after seeing
the movie in class. The film brought her to tears, and
the book is doing the same. When she's done reading
Tuesdays with Morrie, she plans to borrow Kennedy's
copy of Cross My Heart and Hope to Spy.
Courtney (10) just started Molly Moon's Incredible
Book of Hypnotism by Georgia Byng. I'm encouraging her
to read the other Molly Moon books right in order.
Daisy (8) pointed to my Tinker Bell shirt and asked,
"Have you read The Trouble with Tink?" Indeed, I have,
and so has she. The Trouble With Tink by Kiki Thorpe
is the first book in the Disney Fairies series. Daisy
proudly adds that she did a book report on it.
Nora (7) and I had a discussion about Pippi
Longstocking by Astrid Lindgreen. This was prompted by
my over-the-knee red socks.
Bailey (13) is working on his algebra homework. He
says hi.
Lea (12) isn't here right now—though, oddly enough,
her fuzzy hat is—but we didn't want to leave her out
of this article. We plan on indoctrinating her into
the book circle when she returns.
